Privacy

• Your email address, if you sign in or subscribe. Sign-in codes are stored hashed and expire automatically.
• If you sign in with Google, the name, email address and account ID Google shares with us, on the website or in our app. We never receive your Google password or access anything else in your Google account.
• Likes and reading activity in our app, if you're signed in: which stories you like, open, save, share or skip, and how long you spend on them. We use this only to recommend stories you'll want to read. Reading activity is kept for 180 days, and deleting your account removes it, your likes and your saved stories. If you're not signed in, the app keeps your interests on your phone and sends them, with a random app ID that isn't linked to you, when it asks for recommendations. We use them for that request only and don't store them.
• Likes are public; saves are private. When you like a story, other readers can see that you did, by your first name and the initial of your last name (never your email), along with how many people liked it. Stories you save are kept with your account, so your reading list follows you to any phone; others see only how many people saved a story, never who. Likes made before you were told likes are public (including your first like in the app, which tells you) are counted but not shown by name. Unliking a story removes your name from it.
• Listing details you submit — all of it intended for publication.
• A hashed form of your IP address at signup, kept as proof of consent if a spam complaint is raised. We do not store raw IPs against subscriptions.
• Saved companies, followed companies and categories, and optional following email preferences, linked privately to your account. Following digest delivery records are kept for up to a year to prevent duplicate emails. Account deletion removes these preferences and delivery records.
• Aggregate page view counts per listing. Not tied to individuals.

We don't sell or rent your data. Newsletter mail goes only to verified subscribers who have not unsubscribed.

On eligible pages, we may show ads served by Google AdSense to help fund the directory. Google and its partners may place and read cookies, use web beacons, IP addresses and other device identifiers to choose which ads to show and to measure how they perform; this follows Google's own policy for partner sites. We don't control what Google collects for this and don't receive your personal data from it. You can see and adjust how Google personalises ads across the sites you visit at Google Ads Settings.

Creating an account or submitting a startup subscribes your verified email to the weekly newsletter. We disclose this during signup and submission, and preserve any previous opt-out. Newsletter-only signups confirm using an email link. You can choose topics or unsubscribe in your account. Every newsletter includes one-click unsubscribe, which takes effect immediately. Deleting your account stops newsletter mail. Following emails require a separate opt-in in Your discoveries; your newsletter unsubscribe stops them too.

Email [email protected] to request removal. Deleting your account removes private reader preferences and listing access. Public company profiles may remain, and an unsubscribe suppression record prevents future unwanted enrollment.
